Robb Pitts

Background & Experience

Robb Pitts is a seasoned public servant and accomplished leader who has dedicated decades to improving the lives of Fulton County residents. Before being elected Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners in 2017, he served twelve years as a county commissioner and spent two decades on the Atlanta City Council, including a term as Council President from 1997 to 2001. His academic credentials are equally impressive — holding degrees in education, business, languages, and Latin American Studies from Ohio University, Kent State University, and La Universidad Interamericana, along with an MBA from Emory University — he has also shaped future leaders as a professor at Clark Atlanta University, Oberlin College, and Kent State University.

Fiscal Leadership & Community Advocacy

Known widely as the “Taxpayers’ Watchdog,” Chairman Pitts has built a reputation for bringing accountability and efficiency to county government. Throughout his tenure, he has championed meaningful tax relief for elderly residents, pushed for reduced sanitation fees, and worked to increase homestead exemptions — all while keeping a close eye on how public dollars are spent. His commitment to fiscal responsibility is matched by a dedication to economic inclusion, actively uplifting minority-owned businesses and ensuring that Fulton County’s growth benefits every community, particularly in historically underserved areas like South Fulton.

Vision & Current Priorities

As Chairman of Georgia’s largest county and steward of its Capitol City, Robb Pitts is focused on a forward-looking agenda that addresses justice, infrastructure, and sustainability. He has prioritized clearing the county’s court case backlog, expanding transit options, and overseeing the construction of a modern animal shelter to replace a facility dating back to the 1970s. A champion for environmental responsibility, he has sponsored legislation to phase out single-use plastics across the county. From protecting voting rights to ensuring sustainable funding for libraries and public health services, Chairman Pitts continues to fight for the dignity, safety, and prosperity of every Fulton County family.
